“As a candidate, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the exemplary efforts of Secretary of State Mac Warner and dedicated county clerks, including Brian Wood, in safeguarding the integrity of our elections here in West Virginia. Their steadfast leadership has been instrumental in implementing robust election security measures.
I have full confidence in the thoroughness of our electoral process, and I believe it’s crucial to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of these public servants. While opinions on the 2020 election may vary, it is important to recognize the effectiveness of the systems in place and focus on building trust in our democratic process.
In West Virginia, we have a proven track record of conducting secure and transparent elections. As a candidate, I am committed to supporting and upholding the high standards of election integrity set by Secretary Warner, Clerk Wood, and their colleagues across our state. Our experience in West Virginia serves as a valuable example, and I believe the country could learn a lot from the dedication and effectiveness of our electoral processes.”
I prioritize individual freedoms, public health, and the well-being of our communities. Vaccines have played a critical role in preventing and controlling infectious diseases, contributing to the overall health of our nation.
I believe in the importance of individual choice when it comes to healthcare decisions, including vaccination. While I support and encourage vaccination as a proven and effective way to protect oneself and others from contagious diseases, I also respect the right of individuals to make informed choices about their own health.
Public health policies should be based on a balanced approach that respects personal freedoms while promoting the greater good. It is crucial to provide accurate information and foster open dialogue to address concerns and encourage voluntary participation in vaccination programs.
I am committed to supporting initiatives that prioritize education, accessibility, and transparency in healthcare. By empowering individuals with information and respecting their choices, we can work together to ensure a healthy and thriving community.
I advocate for a collaborative approach where healthcare decisions are informed by science, individual rights are respected, and public health measures are implemented with the well-being of our citizens in mind.
I strongly advocate for schools to prioritize the education of our children and refrain from delving into the current social issues. In a global context, we find ourselves competing on a world stage, and while we engage in debates on these matters, countries like India and China are surpassing our children in educational attainment. It is paramount that we redirect our focus towards academic excellence to ensure our students remain competitive on the international scale.
The legislative strides made in tax reform in West Virginia last year were truly monumental. As we witness the implementation of this legislation in real life, it becomes evident that the business inventory tax is a complex matter that requires careful consideration. Undoubtedly, this tax does not align with business-friendly principles. Currently, businesses face taxation both upon purchase and sale of items, but the most regressive aspect is taxing them even when no items are sold.
While I recognize the role this tax plays in supporting our county governments, it’s crucial to explore alternative approaches. In the coming years, I am committed to collaborating with experts and fellow lawmakers to find a solution that fosters prosperity for West Virginians while addressing the challenges posed by the business inventory tax. Our goal is to create a tax framework that encourages economic growth and supports the well-being of businesses and individuals alike.
The legislative efforts on tax reform in West Virginia last year were groundbreaking. Now, it’s imperative to observe the real-world impact of this legislation. Over the next few years, a critical aspect will be to assess and, if necessary, revise this reform for its effectiveness and alignment with the evolving needs of our state.
As a Republican candidate for public office in West Virginia, I wholeheartedly support and celebrate the resurgence of manufacturing in Putnam County, recognizing the invaluable role that skilled trades play in our nation’s greatness.
The increasing demand for skilled individuals in various trades is a clear indication of the pivotal role these professions play in driving economic growth and prosperity. From the hands-on expertise of welders and machinists to the precision of electricians and plumbers, our tradespeople contribute significantly to the backbone of our economy.
In fostering a business-friendly environment, I aim to attract investments that not only enhance manufacturing but also create ample job opportunities for our citizens. The rich tapestry of trades in our community is essential to this vision, and I am committed to ensuring that these skilled workers have the support and recognition they deserve.
I believe in collaborating with stakeholders to implement policies that prioritize the growth of our trades, providing training opportunities and promoting apprenticeships. By championing the cause of our tradespeople, we can strengthen our local economy, foster job creation, and honor the legacy of craftsmanship that has made West Virginia great.
Let’s build a future where the trades flourish, our businesses thrive, and our state prospers, embracing the enduring contributions of the skilled individuals who shape our communities and drive our economic success.
5. Education and Disruptive Students in the Classroom
We will actively engage in initiatives aimed at recruiting and retaining highly qualified educators. This commitment underscores our dedication to providing our children with an education of the utmost quality, fostering an environment where educators are valued and encouraged to contribute to the academic excellence of our students. Through targeted efforts, we aim to create a supportive and rewarding atmosphere that not only attracts skilled educators but also retains their expertise to enhance the overall educational experience for our children.
A pressing issue I’ve witnessed firsthand is the disruptive behavior of certain students, detrimentally affecting the educational process for everyone. As teachers grapple with managing unruly behavior, it has led to professionals leaving the profession or dissuaded potential educators from entering. The most critical consequence is that willing and eager students are being deprived of the education they rightfully deserve. It is imperative to address this issue by prioritizing the mental and behavioral health of disruptive students, ensuring their full integration into mainstream classes, and implementing effective processes to create an environment conducive to the education of all students.
Action:
In the event of my election, I will propose legislation directing the Department of Education to create a dedicated task force aimed at comprehensively addressing unruly and disruptive behavior in the classroom. This task force will work collaboratively to develop effective strategies, policies, and resources to ensure a conducive learning environment for all students. Importantly, the legislation will empower teachers and administrators to address unruly students without constraints, fostering an environment where educators can take decisive action to maintain order and uphold the quality of education for all. By prioritizing the resolution of disruptive behavior, we can support willing students and fortify the overall quality of education.
